Atlantic Canada's new Champion Supreme in Open Drumming is 20-year-old Aaron Carter of Fredericton Society of St. Andrew Pipe Band, New Brunswick.

Aaron, whose skills are complimented by an Andante Reactor, is really going places in the drumming world - half way round it in fact! He leaves for New Zealand from January to April 2005 to play with the Grade 1 Dalewool Auckland and District Pipe Band (www.pipeband.org.nz) with whom he will compete in a number of contests, including the New Zealand championships.

The Dalewool corps is playing a new set of Andante Reactor drums and Aaron will look after the tuning, etc. during his stay.

Aaron hopes to obtain his judge's certificate this November in Halifax, and if so he may possibly fit in some judging during the trip.

The latest developments at Andante - always a step ahead!

NEW MULTI WAVE DRUM COLOUR

The very latest Reactor trend is a multi coloured drum which has different colours around the shell that merge into one another as you turn the drum to give a wave effect. It has to be seen to be appreciated and although it is difficult to photograph you will get some idea if you check out the pictures on the News page of the Andante website. The colours can be chosen to compliment your tartan and this new option is proving very popular in the UK.

Andante's Latest Toys

Andante's very successful torque limiter has now been joined by a tension control key for the bottom head, so you can get the pitch you want without the risk.

Coming soon is their new projector - a balanced dynamic playing surface projecting a clear solid sound from the bottom of the drum.

New - Learn pipe band drumming DVD

For many years the Pipe Band Drumming community has sought a learning product that develops each discipline of drumming while recognising that they all - Bass, Tenor and Snare - have to play together in the drum corps.

The Band Room has developed a series of DVD products to address this requirement.

The first of these starts from the very basic stages. Presented by John McFetridge (Field Marshal Montgomery), Scott Currie (House of Edgar Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band) and Brian McComish (Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band) this DVD gives an excellent visual insight into bass, tenor and snare drumming enabling the viewer to work through the basic rudiments.

ANDANTE DESIGN THEIR OWN HARNESSES

Andante have now introduced their own specially designed harnesses to fit their range of drums without having to remove the carrying handle and hook. They adjust for height, shoulder width and even angle so you can play with the comfort of a harness and the feel of a sling. The snare and tenor drum harnesses are already available but work is still in progress on the bass drum harness.
